Spiritual India Tour: from the Ganges to the Golden Temple

After a sumptuous breakfast, enjoy a day exploring Delhi’s diverse spiritual and historical sites. Your guided tour will include:

Jama Masjid: One of the largest mosques in India, providing a peaceful environment for reflection.
Qutub Minar: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing India’s rich Islamic architecture.
India Gate: A symbol of sacrifice, a war memorial dedicated to Indian soldiers.
Humayun's Tomb: The grand Mughal garden mausoleum that inspired the Taj Mahal.
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: A serene Sikh temple, where you can attend prayers or enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.

Your guide will be flexible with regards to the itinerary, allowing you to customize the experience to your interests. After a day of exploring Delhi's spiritual and cultural richness, return to The Oberoi, New Delhi for a refreshing dinner at one of its excellent restaurants (Indian, Chinese, or multi-cuisine).

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Varanasi, one of India's holiest cities. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your luxurious hotel. Spend your afternoon relaxing or exploring the peaceful ambiance of Ramada Plaza Varanasi, which offers a comfortable, quiet place to unwind after your flight.

As evening falls, you will head to the famous Dashashwamedh Ghat to witness the Ganga Aarti ceremony, a spiritual spectacle where hundreds of lamps are offered to the Ganges. The mesmerizing rituals will make you feel deeply connected to the spiritual heart of India.

Start your day with a serene boat ride along the Ganges at sunrise, and watch life unfold along the city's ghats. You will visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of India's most revered temples. Your guide will help you understand the history and significance of this sacred place. Afterwards, drive to Sarnath, where the Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. Explore the Sarnath Archaeological Museum and the famous Dhamekh Stupa.

The evening is free for you to enjoy at your leisure, but we highly recommend visiting the Ganges a second time for the Ganga Aarti or relaxing along the riverbank for meditation and contemplation.

After breakfast, you will fly to Agra, home to the Taj Mahal. Upon arrival, check into the Oberoi Amarvilas, a luxurious hotel located just 600 meters from the Taj Mahal. Enjoy breathtaking views of this iconic monument from your room, where you can watch the Taj change colors throughout the day, from pale peachy pink in the morning to glowing amber at sunset.

Take the rest of the day to relax at the Oberoi Amarvilas. Enjoy a stroll through the pool, beautiful gardens or a pampering spa treatment before dinner.

Start your day with a visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise, where you can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of this marble mausoleum in the soft early light. The serenity of this place is perfect for spiritual contemplation.

Later, you will visit the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with significant historical and spiritual significance. You will also visit Mehtab Bagh, a beautiful garden offering a wonderful view of the Taj Mahal across the river.

Return to the Oberoi Amarvilas to enjoy a leisurely dinner, perhaps with fellow travelers, while relaxing and reflecting on the day's experiences.

After a leisurely breakfast, your journey continues with a scenic drive to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and famous as the Pink City. Upon arrival, check into your luxurious hotel and take the rest of the day to relax. In the evening, enjoy a peaceful walk around the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), an architectural marvel, or explore the colorful Johri Bazaar.

Spend your day exploring the spiritual and historical sites of Jaipur. You'll visit the majestic Amer Fort, where you can take an elephant ride up to the fort and explore its ornate palaces and courtyards. You'll also visit the City Palace, which is a beautiful blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, and Jantar Mantar, which is an observatory with ancient astronomical instruments.

In the evening, relax and enjoy dinner at one of Oberoi's exceptional restaurants.

This morning, fly to Amritsar, the spiritual center of Sikhism. Upon arrival, you'll be driven to your hotel to check in. Next, head to the Golden Temple, the holiest site for Sikhs. Here, you can partake in the peaceful atmosphere, meditate, or volunteer at the langar (community kitchen). The Golden Temple is especially serene in the evening when the temple is lit up with lights, offering a truly spiritual experience.

After breakfast, visit the historic Jallianwala Bagh, a place of great significance in India’s freedom struggle. Continue your tour with a visit to the Durgiana Temple, a beautiful temple with sacred significance for both Hindus and Sikhs.

In the afternoon, drive towards the Wagah Border to witness the Beating Retreat ceremony. This daily ritual, with patriotic fervour, symbolizes border control between India and Pakistan. Return back to Amritsar for a relaxing evening.

After breakfast, drive towards the serene hill station of Dharamsala, nestled in the Himalayas. This peaceful town is home to Tibetan Buddhism and the Dalai Lama. On arrival, check into your hotel, and take some time to relax amid the natural beauty.

Explore McLeodganj, a charming town, which is the center of Tibetan culture in India. Visit the Namgyal Monastery and Tsuglagkhang Temple, where the Dalai Lama lives. You'll also visit the Tibetan Museum, which offers insight into Tibetan culture and history. In the evening, take a peaceful walk to Bhagsu Waterfall for a meditative experience amid nature.

Spend a relaxing day in Dharamshala with an optional yoga or meditation session, or visit Dal Lake for a quiet relaxation. You can explore the local Tibetan bazaars or simply enjoy the beauty of the surrounding mountains.

After breakfast, you'll drive or be driven back to Delhi. Once you arrive, you'll have some free time to explore any remaining sights or shop for souvenirs before heading to your hotel to relax.

After a relaxing breakfast, your driver will transfer you to Indira Gandhi International Airport for your departure flight. We hope this trip has enriched your soul and deepened your connection with India's spiritual heritage.

If the tour needs to be rescheduled or postponed for any reason other than illness or COVID-19, we are not obligated to pay you for any unused services. All tourists entering India excluding natives of Nepal and Bhutan require a valid visa. The six-month validity of a tourist visa cannot be extended. Certain nationals can obtain a visa upon arrival, while others must apply online in advance. Except in certain cases, leaving on a tourist visa prevents you from returning within two months. Entrepreneurs and scholars are eligible for five-year visas. Some sites are off-limits to foreigners, and others require specific licenses.

Travel insurance for overseas travel is meant to accompany you and assist you in making more informed travel choices. All travellers must obtain travel insurance, which must be purchased from their home country with a sum insured of at least USD 100,000. Insurance should be obtained before departure. Personal accidents, death, medical costs and emergency repatriation must all be covered by your insurance. It is highly recommended that you obtain coverage for personal responsibility, loss of luggage, cancellation and curtailment.

You are responsible for all of your belongings during the tour. On domestic carriers, the standard weight limit for checked baggage is 15 kg, and the weight limit for carry-on luggage is 7 kg.

Unfortunately, because our automobiles are not wheelchair accessible, those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility cannot join us on trips anymore. 

Be aware that some level of general fitness will be needed for this. If you have any concerns, please see your healthcare provider before making any purchases or scheduling a vacation.

Please note that if admission to a location is impacted by changes to working hours or public holiday closures, your itinerary may be adjusted, subject to availability, or a comparable activity may be provided in its place.

This includes any requested changes you make to your reservation, such as reissuing an airline ticket or the Purchase Confirmation, among other things.
